In the summer of 2009 Eric and Lauren joined forces and left their family and friends behind in Texas for a new life in Philadelphia.

This blog originally started as a way to keep in touch with others on our new adventure.Β  While we still try to keep it that way, we’ve recently started posting more about food and the things we cook and eat.

A little bit about us:

Eric and I met in April of 2006 on a drunken bike ride. We lost touch over the summer but started emailing each other again in the fall. I guess you could say we officially got together around Halloween of 2006.

We spent most of our relationship 5 hours apart, so when we decided to move to Philadelphia together not only would it be the first time living together, but also the first time we had lived in the same city! Talk about a big change.

In addition to photographing and talking about food, we like to photograph and talk about our two cats, Kitta Marie and Grissom.

  1. I love this blog. You guys are awesome πŸ™‚

  2. Hey ya’ll! Been readin your little bloggy for a few months and adore it! I moved to Austin yesterday, I know you guys know a little about it. Any tips?? Places I must go? Things I MUST see? I’m a fellow food lover and a vegetarian, also looking to start up my career in that realm πŸ™‚ Anything you can tell me would be more than appreciated! I’ll soak it up!

    • That’s so awesome! I am slightly jealous because Austin is one of my favorite cities and a lot of my friends live there!

Well you HAVE to go the the Whole Foods on 6th & Lamar because it’s the world headquarters, and pretty epic.
I love Bouldin Creek Coffeehouse, great food and drinks, and they have board games!
We love to eat at Matt’s El Rancho on South Lamar and get the Matt’s Jr. Potatoes. And we tend to drink at Jackalope.
Mother’s Vegetarian is ok, it’s not bad, but not that great.

I know there is a ton more stuff, I will try to think and comment back.

  3. Thanks for the tippage! I’ve already visited Whole Foods, I mean come on! I was in awe:) I’ve heard about Bouldin Creek and plan to make a visit soon…I’m job hunting so I’m trying to network a little and coffee shops are always great for that!

Keep the suggestions rolling! and thanks for taking the time to reply!

P.s. I understand your jealousy, but it looks like you’re doing A-OK in PA as well πŸ™‚

  4. Your blog is adorable. So good meeting you!!

  5. I also am from Texas and live in Philly!:) You two are super cute! Where in Te-has are you from?

  6. I just came across your blog. My husband and I did the opposite of what you guys did, we moved from the northeast to Houston. We are slowly loving leaving here… specially now that we have a few more vegetarian and vegan options… however as you know TX is a steak land and it can get frustrating at times.

  7. Hello! From Austin Texas. My fiance and I might move to Philly for his residency program next year. Any tips?

    • That’s so exciting! Austin is definitely one of my favorite cities, but I think I love Philly more. People aren’t as nice as they are in Texas, but I don’t think they are as rude as everyone makes them out to be! Philly is really changing, for the better, and I’ve found it’s really easy to feel a sense of community here. Everyone really wants to work together to make it a better city. It’s really easy to get around on foot or bike and there are constantly free awesome things going on, especially during the summer.

Let me know if you have any questions!

  8. My fiance and I moved from Denton to Philly in 2007. We’re absolutely making our own way since we knew nobody here. But we love it. Good to know there are other adventurous people out there.

  9. Read your post on the forum about veggie fare at the Phillies. You can find all vegetarian listings for any MLB park on our Venue Reference Guide. Please share this with other baseball fans who want to know!

  10. Just found your blog today. I love you! You guys seem like so much fun!
