Photos From The Weekend + Monday

Due to the holiday weekend, this post is going to be kind of long, and kind of random. I also managed to take photos with a total of 5 different cameras, haha.

Eric and I were feeling lazy on Friday so we decided to order some pizza from Blackbird Pizzeria for dinner. We picked up our pie and rode over to Washington Square West to eat at the park. We also put my new front rack to good use and used it for hauling the pizza.

We woke up bright and early Saturday morning and drove to…Connecticut? Long story short, Eric has been wanting to buy a crossbike so he can start cross-racing. He found a bike online but got confused as to where the guy lived, so we drove all the way to Hartford, CT. I’d never been to Connecticut so we made a mini trip out of it.

Our first Connecticut stop was New England Brewing Co. We had heard about them, but you can’t buy their beer in PA, so it was cool to stop by and check out the brewery and pick up a 6-pack.

After the brewery we continued on and stopped by It’s Only Natural in Middletown, CT. The service was meh, but the food definitely made up for it. I had the spicy tempeh salad and Eric ordered a burger.

Then we finally went to pick up the bike!! To add to our already absurd amount of bikes!

My reward for going on the trip was getting to stop at a beach! It wasn’t too crowded, but was a little cold so we just put our feet in.

Obviously on Sunday morning we had to go for a bike ride so Eric could check out his new bike. Since I am currently taking a break from running I was pretty excited to ride my road bike.

We headed out to West River Dr. which is closed to cars on weekend morning.

And then headed up into Fairmount Park which has some more bike trails. I love heading into the park because you can get totally lost and never feel like you are in the city (just don’t go by yourself or when it’s dark).

Someone needs a little sun…

And then I felt like we rode our other bikes all over the city the rest of the day. We cruised down to South Philly for a BBQ.

Then rode to Logan Square to go swimming. Don’t judge, it was hot.

We may or may not have been the oldest people in the fountain.

There wasn’t much going on for the holiday Monday, so Eric and I decided to stay home and grill and a few friends ended up stopping by.
This photo might have been taken in 2011, or in 1978, you be the judge…
2011 or 1978?

We grilled a ton of vegetables – corn, asparagus, green beans, red peppers, potatoes, onions and zucchini, then had some tempeh as well. I also made my new favorite summertime drink, iced tea with a splash of whiskey.

This weekend was a great start to summer and hopefully means we are going to have a busy and fun summer!

  1. What a gorgeous weekend!
I was born in CT and lived there until I was 11, not far from Hartford, either. I still head back up there about once a year to visit family. It’s a beautiful state!

  2. What an awesome few days!! Y’all know how to have a good time 🙂
    Have you seen this Tumblr?!

  3. Do you still have your mamiya? I was thinking we should do a medium format challenge? I have a Kiev right now so maybe the challenge will just get us to shoot.

    • I still have it, but kind of forgot how to shoot with it. Plus I don’t even know where to get the film developed (and that’s part of the reason I stopped shooting with my holga).

  4. Dugast sew-ups…nice! I’d switch those wheels/tires out for cruising, too!

  5. The red peppers and potatoes look deeelicious and everything else looks like so much fun! My favorite summertime drink is whiskey and lemonade but a gin and tonic will always do too.

  6. all the beer! the food! the fountains! makes me wish texas were a bit closer to Pa.
whiskey with tea? you’re still totally texan.
