Another week, another CSA pick up. We got a few things I had never heard of, which is always exciting!
2 Red Bell Peppers – Certified Organic – Maple Arch Farm
1 Bunch Tatsoi – Certified Organic – Hillside Organics
2 Heads Baby Bok Choy – Certified Organic – Millwood Springs Organics
6 Ears Sweet Corn – Certified Organic – Pine Hill Organics
1 Bag Hungarian Peppers – Certified Organic – Soaring Eagle Acres
1 Bag Sweet Onions – Certified Organic – Soaring Eagle Acres
1 Squash – Certified Organic – Autumn Blend Organics
Hungarian peppers and tasoi? Those were two I had never heard of. The peppers seems to be similar to banana peppers, but with more flavor. Tatsoi is a member of the brassica family and from what I have read it tastes like a milder version of mustard greens.
Monthly Wrap Up
This also marks the end of August. I hate to say it, but I am kind of happy to see summer go. It was way too hot to even enjoy most of the days, and from what I have read Philly had the hottest summer on record. Coldest winter then hottest summer? What have I gotten myself in to…
For me, Lauren, August was definitely an interesting month. I made some pretty life changing goals which I hope to talk about in the next few days. On the workout front I had an awesome month and I ran OVER 100 MILES! I really can’t believe that I broke the 100 miler barrier. I recently added up all my monthly totals and I never even got close in previous months. The half marathon is in 3 weeks and I am still feeling strong, especially after my 15 miler this past weekend.
Eric had a great cycling month as well. He successfully rode his bike to work every day, a first! His monthly mileage totaled over 670. Maybe he can break 1,000 miles next month?
